STEP III

Each student develops their own project, yet has access to the their entire image archive .

NOTE: Methodology for each of us varies, and some of us work through process in a different order
than what is suggested here. Be open to new processes and to discussing your preferred process. Do
you know your process?

NOTE: The chance methodology developed for your photo shoot would be a good place to start for
determining chance decisions to be used throughout the project, i.e, for text, typography, structure,
etc. Also don’t forget about relationships between methodology and concept.

> IMAGE ARCHIVE
The complete image archive can be used to develop your project.
Review the images or footage, consider where they come from (context), and what they are
about (content). Consider what statement you want to make based on this archive. Editing the image
archive is acceptable (control). Make your image selections based on your concept (control).

> TEXT
Textual content is to be supplied by each student. The documentation text collected during your
photo shoot, interviews on location, sound recordings, and local research can be used as text, or
used as an impetus for developing different content. Also consider everyday sources like timetables,
product labels, manuals, etc. The amount of content is up to you, and the methodology for choosing
text should relate conceptually to the content and structures you develop overall.

> CONCEPT
Develop a concept by assessing your chance methodology, your image archive, and your
documentation materials.
